Sometimes You Just Need a Self-Intervention

Sometimes You Just Need a Self-Intervention

Dear Blog,

It’s been a while since I last wrote. The truth is, I didn’t do any writing. Not because I didn’t want to, I did, but because we were busy ripping our kitchen apart and figuring out details for cabinets, countertops, and the usual things that come with remodeling the kitchen of an old 1949 house. We’ve finally come to a little lull as we wait on an electrician to give us a quote (what’s with no one calling you back these days?).

While my husband was in annual training over the weekend, I had some time to myself. But I didn’t do any writing (well, a few words here and there, I don’t want to lie). I feel like I’m stuck. This past month has been frustrating. I’ve hardly written a thing. My current project has not been flowing through my fingers like the last one did during my 14-day plan. It’s been a complete disaster.

So, I decided I needed to do a little self-care. Not the kind where you take a break and binge-watch Netflix. I don’t need a break from writing. I need an intervention.

Recently The Tapping Solution hosted the Tapping World Summit. I heard about the event on Facebook so I joined. A friend had introduced me to tapping over a year ago, so I knew what it was. A technique formally referred to as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). It involves tapping with your fingertips on various acupuncture points to correct the flow of energy through the meridian lines in our body, energy which is believed to control how we think, feel, and move.

It sounds crazy. I know.

But when you’re desperate, you’ll try any crazy thing.

I’ve always been big into self-improvement and positive thinking. I’ve tried really hard to be positive over the years so I can focus. But it hasn’t always worked, and after spending the weekend going through a tapping system, it’s clear I have some unresolved issues and suppressed emotions relating to financial trauma and income goal setting.

The Law of Attraction is a real thing. But unless you resolve those buried emotions, no amount of positive thinking will sustain you for long. At least that’s how it’s been for me.

So, I’ve been doing a lot of tapping as I read through the book I chose. It has uncovered a lot of stuff, and with more tapping work, I’ll be able to clear those negative thought patterns and emotions so I can get better focused on my writing.

There are a ton of books and YouTube videos on tapping for virtually any type of issue (i.e., diet, stress, wealth, chronic pain, creativity)…

But if you’re curious, I’m going through Margaret M. Lynch’s Tapping Into Wealth. There are exercises and tapping scripts in each chapter of the book and she also has a special video for each chapter. This has been super helpful and I can’t wait to see results over the coming weeks.

If you are interested in more information, my friend Kelly has an in-depth explanation about EFT (tapping) on her new website here https://tappingwithkelly.com/.

Kelly recently became a certified EFT practitioner and offers one-on-one EFT/Tapping sessions as well as a free 20-minute exploratory phone call to address any EFT-related questions you might have. She is awesome and I love her!

Anyway, just putting that out there because information and knowledge is power. And I’d be doing a disservice to my readers if I didn’t talk about important things like this.

Our thoughts and subconscious beliefs rule our lives. If we want to change, we have to take a deeper look into ourselves and work on resolving underlying, and sometimes hidden, issues. If you’ve been struggling in some area, I highly recommend you give tapping a serious try.

Until next time…
