Grammar Series, No. 4: Is it “Lose” or “Loose”?

Is it "lose" or "loose"?

  • "Lose" means to have something taken away, as in "Hens lose some of their feathers when they molt."

  • "Loose" means something is not tight or restricted, as in "Our chickens are happier when turned loose to roam the farm."
