What Can You Do Today to Live the Life You Were Meant to Live?

I am deeply saddened by the horrific tragedy that took place in Newtown, Connecticut yesterday. This is a day we will never forget.

With each tragedy, we are rudely reminded that our time here on Earth is very limited, more so for some than for others. It reminds us that, at any moment, our time here could end.

Last week, I wrote a post about doing what we love. If you missed it, you can read it here. Today, I wanted to emphasize this and expand upon it. Each one of us has a purpose and we have specific talents to help us carry out that purpose. If we don't put these talents into action to impact the lives of others in a positive way, we are doing a disservice not just to ourselves but to others as well.

Most of us don't know when our lives will end, and because of that, we need to make it count. Every day, we need to ask ourselves: am I doing what I love? Am I doing what I was meant to do?

If you have a story to tell, are you sharing it with others so you can have a positive impact on someone else's life? If you are a writer, are you getting the words down each and every day so you can share your work with the world?

Evil will always exist in this world, but we can be the ones shining the light. We are the light of the world, and it is up to us to shine that light through all the darkness.

I believe that God is our creator and he gave us all a purpose: to glorify him through good works. The works we do are related to the talents we have been given.

So, my question is: what can you do today to glorify God? What can you do today to bring light into someone's life? What can you do to inspire them, encourage them, give them hope, bring joy to their lives if only for a moment?

Don't take anything for granted. Each day, be thankful and grateful for the people in your lives and the blessings God has given you. Most importantly, get to know God and seek his guidance in all things. And remember this one thing: God loves you very much and he'll shine light into your life if you let him.
